AS9100 Certification for Quality Management at Platform Aerospace

Hollywood, MD (March 28, 2018) - Platform Aerospace, has received its AS9100D Certification for Quality Management from Intertek.  In the highly-regulated aviation, space, and defense industries, compliance with quality management system (QMS) standards is a mandatory step that must be completed in order to be considered a qualified supplier and Platform Aerospace meets and exceeds that standard every day.

“What we have done here, is extended our ISO 9001:2015 to the much more stringent requirements of the AS9100D certification. Our team was excited to do this because it just further validated the practices we were already doing on behalf of our clients and gives them that extra piece of mind.” Says Brian Read, head of Quality, Production Engineer and Head of Quality Assurance for Platform Aerospace.

These standards were developed to produce a harmonized platform to ensure that all operations in the supply chain are adhering to best practice. They include all the existing elements of ISO 9001 and a variety of aerospace sector-specific requirements.

The Aerospace standards seek to:

  • Improve customer satisfaction, quality & safety

  • Reduce costs & lower customer-unique requirements

  • Reduce the variation caused by multiple expectations

  • Reduce and streamline audits conducted along the aerospace supply chain.

AS9100D has key aspects which include safety, airworthiness, product conformity and reliability in the aerospace industry. These quality requirements are crucial to aerospace OEMs, which maintain high levels of liability for their product.
